Have you ever been away from home for a long time and once you're home, you just smile and say "Hello, my own bed, I missed you?" That's how I feel about April. As I was looking for a photo or graphic to head this article, the simplicity of the one I chose leaped out at me. A simple smile, two words, happiness.
We survived winter! Granted, it wasn't as nasty as some past winters have been and we were fortunate to avoid a lot of the white stuff. But, here we are. Tulips are in full bloom. The windy days are pulling the flowers from the trees. We even have a robin trying to build a nest in our stove-top vent.
How are you feeling? Does warmer weather stir your blood, calm your nerves, make you smile? For me, warm weather always means baseball. I grew up loving the game and that feeling hasn't faded. Knowing we have six months of America's Pastime ahead of us is heaven. I recently saw that Huntingburg will be hosting a Big League Classic later this summer featuring former legends of the game. How fun is that? Here's more info if you're a baseball buff, too. We will again be partnering with the Evansville Otters to give away game tickets throughout the season. April also represents the countdown to summer. With Easter and Spring Break over, we are now in the final lap to end another school year. Our Summer Camps Guide is up on our website and has so many great options to keep kids busy this summer. We are also excited to bring our Day Trippin' Guide back again this year! Last year, the guide premiered to an awesome number of clicks. Besides highlighting places to go within one to three hours of Evansville, we gave away tickets all summer to each location so that one lucky family could experience the fun in person!
